Presenter(s) This week's seminar was an open discussion session from all attendees, led by Dr. Sy-Miin Chow, Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at Penn State.
Description

This week's session will be a casual discussion rather than a formal academic presentation.

We will use this time to collect stories, anecdotes, and insights about why methodological approaches are essential in HDFS. These contributions will be compiled into a chapter for a short eBook titled "Human Development and Family Studies is the Study of Life—and a Little More: Why Do We Do HDFS?" co-edited by Dr. Soomi Lee and Dr. Alexis Santos. From the editors: "The goal of this book is simple: to have fun writing in a less formal, non-scientific style while sharing our passion for HDFS. We hope this will serve as an engaging way to promote our field to a broader audience, including parents and prospective students. Contributions should be 5-6 pages and can serve as a reflection on why you engage in your area of work (teaching or research) the way you do, and the benefits of this approach."
