| Description |
"The mission of HDFS teaching interest group is to create a collaborative community for those dedicated to teaching excellence in Human Development and Family Studies. Through workshops, faculty-led discussions, and shared resource development, we aim to support continuous growth in teaching effectiveness, strengthen the overall quality of the undergraduate learning experience, provide space for shared learning and innovation around emerging issues in student learning and teaching practices, and act as a resource-generating hub by developing and sharing practical teaching materials across the department. This is an opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and work together to enhance both our teaching and our students' experiences.
Our focus for this semester (and possibly spring semester as well) will be AI use in the college classroom. We plan to have an open-ended discussion about where we are with AI—what we have read or learned that might be helpful to each other, how we are approaching the challenge of students' AI use for assignments, and how we are teaching AI literacy in our classes. We will then plan together how to utilize our remaining meetings (e.g., presentations from representatives of various AI platforms, demonstrations and/or feedback from group members as we make our way through the semester, etc.)."
